Dear Parents and Guardians:
We are experiencing a significant increase in positive cases among staff and students. Within the past week, a large number of close contacts to the positive cases have been placed into a formal quarantine. We have been working closely with the Lafayette County Health Department regarding contact tracing and positive cases within our district and as we continue to see cases rise within the district, county, and state, the best way for our staff and student body to stay safe is by learning virtually.
Due to our recent spike of Covid-19 cases in the county and in our district, we will not have in-person learning from November 13th through Friday, December 4th. We will continue with virtual instruction through December 4th with in-person instruction resuming on Monday, December 7th. During this time all extra-curricular activities will also be cancelled. We will continue to monitor information and communicate with you if we need to continue virtual instruction past December 4th. Your child’s teacher will contact you if there are items to be picked up. The office entrance will be open through November 25th and November 30th – December 4th from 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Meals (breakfast and lunch) will be available for pick up for students between 11:30 a.m. -11:50 a.m. daily and will continue through Wednesday, November 25th and resume November 30th – December 4th. If you are not currently receiving meals and would like to start, Please complete the form here. Meals will be the Hot Lunch entree for the day and the Breakfast items for the following day. Pick up will be at the Elementary Entrance. Please park in the elementary lot and walk to the canopy. We appreciate your help by wearing a mask while in contact with our staff. Any family with virtual students may take advantage of this option as well!
We ask that you diligently and vigilantly follow health and safety guidelines. Social distancing, avoiding large group gatherings, face coverings and frequent hand washing are key components for returning to instruction inside of our schools. As we enter the winter season, more activities will move indoors as weather limits outside activities. Please approach upcoming community and family events with the utmost caution and care. We know that pandemic fatigue may be setting in but please remember that our individual actions both inside and outside of the school setting have large implications. The education and wellbeing of our students relies upon a healthy and safe community.
Please continue to monitor your health and the health of your child(ren). The Argyle School District has taken unprecedented steps to keep our students and staff safe, but we can only be successful with in-person learning through the help of the community as a whole. The steps we have taken reduce the possibility of exposure and close contacts, however the best thing everyone can do is check your health conditions daily. If your child(ren) experiences any COVID-19 symptoms and/or you decide to have them tested for COVID-19, contact the school to let us know.
It has been and continues to be our goal to have face-to-face instruction disrupted as little as possible. Please help us reach our goal of resuming and maintaining in person instruction by continuing to be diligent in doing your part to keep your student and family healthy and safe.
If you have questions, please contact me. Thank you and be safe.
