As we look at the process of returning to school in September, we are faced with some assumptions (listed below) that will guide our direction and dictate our ability to remain in a traditional setting.
- The COVID 19 virus will remain in circulation until a vaccine is developed and widely used.
- A vaccine is not likely to be available as we begin school in the fall.
- Public Health officials are learning new information with the virus, and as they learn new information our plan may change.
- New information with slowing the rate of infection may change our plan.
- Another wave of infections could occur resulting in changes to operation or closure.
We will need support and assistance of families to remain in traditional settings with instruction. We understand this may create additional burden on families but following the guidelines below will provide the best outcomes with our learning environment.
- Daily temperature checks of your child(ren).
- Keep students home if they have a fever or other symptoms of the virus. Please use a temperature of 100 degrees or greater as a guideline.
Symptoms
- Headache
- Fever
- Coughing or sneezing
- Sore Throat
- Diarrhea
- Loss of taste or smell
Students should be fever free for a period of 24 hours prior to returning to school.
Student and Staff safety is our top priority. Our plans reflect guidance from the CDC, State and Local Health Departments.
Flexibility / Change
This plan reflects current information and is a fluid document. As we learn new information we will make changes that reflect the current guidance from the CDC, State and Local Health Departments. Moving between instructional models may be ongoing throughout the year. We will institute preparation for change with little notice. Knowing there may be changes during the year, we have developed multiple instructional models in the event that traditional classroom learning cannot occur.
