Traditional Classroom Model
- Students will attend Monday through Friday.
- No assemblies, large gatherings or field trips.
- Masks required for all Staff and Students. The district will provide masks for students and staff that do not have them.
- All staff and students requested to do temperature self-checks prior to arrival at school.
- Entrance to the school will be denied if any of the following symptoms are reported:
- Headache
- Fever
- Coughing or sneezing
- Sore Throat
- Diarrhea
- Loss of taste or smell
- Social distancing practiced as much as possible. Frequent review of protocols.
- Isolation room for students identified as not well enough to be at school.
Infection Response
- Students or staff that test positive for COVID-19 will not be readmitted until cleared by a medical professional.
- Students or staff that are identified as having direct contact with a person that has tested positive for COVID-19 will be directed to quarantine.
- Contract tracing will be conducted when a confirmed case of COVID-19 is reported.
Communication
- Communication of confirmed COVID-19 cases will be provided using the following messages:
- No Contact – Communicate with families, students and staff that a person in the school has tested positive for COVID-19, but contact tracing suggests that there is no reason to believe that the students/staff had direct contact with the infected person; suggestions will be provided for monitoring health.
- Possible contact- Communicate with families, students and staff that a person in the school has tested positive for COVID-19, but contact tracing suggests that there is a possibility that the students/staff had direct contact with the infected person; suggestions will be provided for monitoring health and inform of required quarantine.
The Lafayette County Health Department will be involved in contact tracing and monitoring the situation in our district.
Building Considerations
- Provide sanitizing cleaner bottles and hand sanitizer for every classroom.
- Classroom and other physical spaces will be modified to provide for social distancing if possible. Furniture will be removed to create space for distancing.
- Staff will be reassigned as needed to cover daily operational needs that prioritize student learning.
- Drinking Fountains will only be available for filling individual bottles.
- Traffic Patterns will be reviewed and modified to meet social distancing recommendations.
- Plexiglas barriers will be installed in areas where appropriate. Some examples include: office spaces, lunch room serving lines, and ticket sale areas. Additional barriers will be installed if there are spaces identified as day to day operations take place.
- Limit visitors to the building. All visitors report directly to the office and will be asked to wear a mask while in the building. Masks will be provided in the entryway.
*Alternative learning will be provided to students and families that are not comfortable with traditional learning.
