Drivers' Education

PreRequisite: Students may begin Classroom at the age of 14 years 5 months. They may get an Instruction Permit (Temps) at 15 years 6 months. They are eligible for a Probationary License at the age of 16; but, according to the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) law, they must have driven a full six months on Temps to get it.  The Course Fee is $250.

Driver’s Education is a quarter long course.  The 2nd quarter will be used for behind the wheel instruction. NO CREDIT WILL BE AWARDED.

Driver Education is a two-phase program consisting of: (1) classroom instruction and (2) behind-the-wheel instruction on city, interstate and residential roadways. This course will meet the WI state requirements of 30 hours classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction of 6 hours driving and 6 hours of observation.  The course will build a solid foundation of knowledge and practice for students by teaching laws of the road, practice performing the act of driving. Successful completion of the course will meet the 30 hour classroom requirement and practice time driving required by the DMV to qualify for attaining a graduated driver’s license. 

 

School-To-Work

Grades 11-12

There are two options for School-To-Work students.

  1. Work Experience (STW)- The work experience program offers students the opportunity to explore their career goals and to study current issues in the workplace.  Students are released from school in order to work in the private industry.  Students can receive school credit for employment outside the school.  
  2. Youth Apprenticeship-The Youth Apprenticeship program is offered through several avenues, including Argyle High School and Southwest Technical College.  A student’s employer delivers work based learning.  There are one-year and two-year programs available.  

SRTNC

Grades 11-12

The SRTNC Network is a fully interactive video distance learning network utilizing the latest in HD video conference technologies to allow course and content sharing to expand and enhance educational opportunities for its members.  Available courses can be found on the CESA3 website under school improvement or by talking to our school counselor.

 

Virtual

Grades 11-12

Virtual courses are for students wanting/needing an alternative class.  Students must meet with the school counselor to determine eligibility.  

 

AP Test Prep

Grade 11-12            One Semester- 0.5 credit

This course is designed to help students prepare for taking college prep tests, such as the ACT exam and AP exams.

 

School Service (Formerly Teacher's Aide)

Grades 11-12           One Semester- 0.5 credit

Students may volunteer within the school for up to one 1 class period per school day and earn ½ credit per semester.  A daily log of activities is kept by the student, due at the end of each grading period to earn a Pass/Fail grade. Students will have say in placement, but must ask permission from the teacher and the school counselor.
